Happy Half Term

Hello again Reception children, Parents and Carers

It's half term already and after such a busy few weeks I want you all to get some rest and have fun in your holiday. I am sharing some ideas for activities in the holiday around this week's theme of colour and autumn. Share photos or messages with me in the usual way but after half term we are moving to google classrooms. You should have all have your log in details and instructions, given out on Tuesday. Please contact the school office if you need any further assistance in accessing google classrooms. After half term the children will have weekly spellings, an ebook for reading and homework tasks.

This week in phonics lessons we learnt the following sounds.

u (bounce u u u umbrella) formation rhyme: down and under, up to the top and down to the puddle.

b (bounce b b b boot) formation rhyme: All the way down the laces, up and round the toes.

With all the sounds we have learnt so far the children should now be able to read and write the following words. We use our fingers to sound out the words as demonstrated in the picture bellow. This is all very new and challenging for the children so please be patient and keep it fun.

Over the half term week please pick an activity from the Autumn themed ideas in the sheet below. I could also like to see what you can find on a colour scavenger hunt. Use your exercise book to record what you can find and have a go at sounding out a label.

This weeks home reading book is A home for Ted

After reading the story can you draw or make a home for your favourite teddy? My favourite teddy is a kitten so she would need a cosy bed and a lots of toys to play with.

This is the end of our Growth and Change topic. After half term we begin learning about Space and Aliens. I am really looking forward to seeing you all after the holiday.

Stay safe and remember to bring happiness to your friends and family with your smile and kindness.
